Although Chery has already secured approval from the Australian Government to sell the Omoda C9, the initial approval only covers non-PHEV versions. The approved variants include front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, both powered by a 183kW turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Powertrain and Performance

The PHEV variant of the Omoda C9 is particularly intriguing. It utilizes a 1.5-litre Miller cycle four-cylinder engine, which is complemented by either two or three electric motors and a choice of 19.43kWh or 34.46kWh batteries. This setup delivers impressive performance metrics:

• Dual-motor configuration: 270kW of power and 605Nm of torque
• Tri-motor configuration: 445kW of power and 915Nm of torque
